BIOGRAPHY

HEIDI JOYCE

Just seen on Everybody Loves Raymond's "Ray Day" on CBS, Heidi Joyce is the creator, host, and executive producer of the nationally recognized STAND UP AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE comedy benefit, featuring LA's top comediennes including Caroline Rhea, Margaret Cho, Wendy Liebman, Margaret Smith, Stephanie Hodge, Merrill Markoe, Rhonda Shear, Cathy Ladman, Maryellen Hooper, Sue Kolinsky, Henriette Mantel, Sue Murphy and others. With performances at the Hollywood Palace, and other venues throughout Los Angeles and across the country, Heidi and Stand Up Against Domestic Violence have been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, in Ms. Magazine and Woman's Own Magazine, and are regularly LA Times Best Bets, and LA Weekly Comedy Picks of the Week. She is also the executive producer and host of two nationally released Stand Up Against Domestic Violence CDs on the Uproar Entertainment label which are available at all record stores and online at Amazon.com.

She was proud to be honored by the National Network To End Domestic Violence along with HBO, Macy Gray, Antwoine Fisher and the cast of Arli$$, for her work on behalf of domestic violence survivors. She was the only comedian selected to appear at the 8th International Ripple Effect Festival in Toronto, a festival featuring artists who address social issues, where she performed on the opening night gala. She was honored to be a fellow at the prestigious Eugene O'Neill Theatre Festival.

Recently featured in the new book Joke Soup: 1217 of the Funniest Jokes from the Best Comedians, by Judy Brown (published by Andrews McMeel), Heidi was the opening act for Melissa Manchester at the Flamingo Hilton Las Vegas. She appeared on the 1999 Marshall's Women in Comedy Festival and hosted the 1998 Festival's night at the Improv. She also headlined Canada's hit TV show She's So Funny and was listed as one of the top comics of "Generation X" by the national comedy trade magazine, JUST FOR LAUGHS. Heidi has been featured at clubs and colleges across the country and has been booked to open for Dana Carvey, Louie Anderson, Carol Leifer, and others. Acting credits include Broadway and Off-Broadway roles including a two-year stint as Sister Amnesia in Nunsense, and appearances on The Guiding Light, As The World Turns and the sitcom pilot Off-Campus with Blossom's Jenna von Oy. You can also see her featured in Weird Al Yankovic's current music video "It's All About The Pentiums."

She has written over a dozen scripts for the National Symphony Orchestra’s programs for children and young adults which were premiered at the Kennedy Center including Spiritual Journey, a tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr., which was broadcast on PBS. Friends & Enemies, her first full-length play, has received critical acclaim including a critic's recommendation from the LA Weekly, Los Angeles' prestigious arts publication.
